We welcome people from any part of the world to join our program regardless of race, nationality, sex, religion etc.
Our trained members of the staff would be there to receive you at the airport, holding placards, displaying your name. You'll be picked up from the airport and taken by a car to your place of stay. Please do send us your arrival information well in advance so as to facilitate your airport pickup.
You'll get very comfortable and clean accommodation with a very friendly, educated and welcoming host family. You may sometimes share your room with another volunteer and will have all the basic modern amenities. Sometimes the accommodation is provided by the organization where you'll work. Our host families have experience of giving comfortable stay to international volunteers.
Participants should bring the following items: mosquito net, lotion or repellent spray with DEET, first aid kit, malaria prophylaxes and mosquito proof clothes.
You'll be provided with a pre-departure manual after you've signed up with us for our program. It'll have the entire phone numbers and addresses of our country co-ordinators whom you may contact in case of any emergency. It will also contain a list of safety precautions and procedures to be followed during the trip.
Yes, you must consult a travel doctor from your country well in advance and get the needful done well before your arrival date. We have put down a list of immunizations required by most participants in the pre departure kit provided to Volunteers, however it is best to check with your doctor.
No, participants will have to get their own comprehensive Travel and Medical insurance before travelling to Ghana.
Yes, there is age limit. Participants should be 19years and above and should be fit to travel and work.
Yes, at VACI-Ghana you are welcome to join with a friend or in a group
You need to get the visa of the country of your destination from your home country. For that purpose you have to apply to their consulate/high commission for a tourist visa. "Visa on arrival" is available in certain countries. Please ask for details. If it is required that our office should send a letter of invitation we will not hesitate. The additional costs of visa extension will be at participant's own expense.
You'll have easy access to e-mail, telephone etc. in majority of the cases. Public telephone booths and cyber cafes are located practically everywhere. You can choose to carry your mobile phone if you want better connectivity with people back home.
You can carry cash enough for your personal expenses for a fortnight ($500 approx). However, ATMs are available in plenty.
Yes! Everyday after work is over you'll have the evenings to yourself. There will be plenty of time to explore the town/village of your placement. You can utilize weekends for in-country travel.
